Here's an updated photo of the boat. It's kinda on hold due to funding and maching of parts. Per Naudia's request, the name is a tribute to our son: 'Jonas Blue'. It's almost finished as you can tell. Hopefully, we can get it on the water this year before the water gets too cold to retrieve if anything goes awry, cross-fingers.

Jonas has been the sweetest baby so far. As the days go by he has more time when he is awake and alert, and we are getting to know him a little better. It seems like he is growing up so fast already!

first days home

So these are pics of the first days home. One favorite memory we have so far is that we were worried about him not pooping (Monday), same day we went to the clinic to have his billirubin level checked. At the clinic, we get checked in and sit down on a bench. Jonas let out this loud blurp, and as proud parents we were happy and relieved that he was making progress. It was instantly funny for how loud it wasand Mommy and Daddy audibly made cheers. It soon got hilarious when the whiffs of stench made me gag. It was too much for Naudia. You know you're a parent when baby poo makes you happy.

Here's Jonas!

He's the cutest baby ever. The nurses show great appreciation for his size and health for being 35wks 6days. We love him. He is awesome. He carries on the Jones tradition of peeing freely. :) He pinked up real nice. I got to go with him to get a bath and shots. He cried more about the sponge bath than the shots, truly. After being bathed, he held onto my hand for a long time. That was my favorite. I will always love that. So no joke: the classical station played William Tell Overture while I was driving Naudia and Jonas to the Hospital. Couldn't have planned it better myself.

Okay so I've been putting off posting for a long time. So these are all the belly pics we've taken. The last one we took yesterday... even though right now I'm on bed rest and not supposed to be standing for to long. It only took a second to take the picture though. I'm excited because the baby could be coming soon and I can't wait to meet him, but at the same time I don't want him to come because he'll have to be in the hospital for awhile because he's premature.

Bed rest isn't that bad, at least when I have David to help out. Hopefully things won't get too crazy when he starts school again in a couple days. It's really hard for me to be at home all day and not be able to clean the house... or do anything. Luckly I have some great friends around who have dropped off movies and books for me. I'm also getting pretty good at playing guitar hero in a reclined position :)

I'm on pills that stop me from having contractions and once I hit full term (in three weeks!) I don't have to take them anymore. My doctor's pretty sure I'll have the baby before then, but I think I'll make it. Last week was the first week of bed rest and it actually went by really fast, so hopefully the next few weeks will do the same.

So here is a little of some school work I can show. I was asked to come with a logo for a lab research group. Now for those who now something about logos: I know that the simpler the better, and I know that people outside the world of mechanical engineering wouldn't know that the grid lines is a depiction of computer-aided analysis for stress of the 'Y' being twisted; but the lab loves it. No one else has a logo like this. And I believe a great deal about identification, and belonging (or setting yourself apart). This has helped the lab feel more like an official group, distinguished. I would show other things of work, but they might be too proprietary.

baby news

Okay folks... finally, we know what the baby is!! Yesterday David and I went in for the appointment and I was so nervous. I was scared they would find something wrong, or we wouldn't be able to tell the sex... and I was just plain scared to see the baby. I don't know why that scared me I guess it just made everything very real. Obviously a pregnancy test, bulging abdomen, multiple times hearing the heart beat and finally feeling the baby beating up my insides wasn't real enough for me. Actually feeling the baby inside is so cool... this little guy is super active most days.

Anyways... back on topic! The ultrasound was very cool. As the doctor went through her list of things to check, she told us what she was looking for and if everything looked normal. Everything was fine. We learned that the baby's vital organs are performing as they should, and there are no backbone or brain issues. The only thing a little off was one of the baby's kidneys looked like it was a different texture than the other one, but she didn't seem concerned about it, so hopefully it will work out okay. We also learned that the baby looks like it's five days older than what my due date would make it but that isn't enough of a difference to change the due date. I think it just means I'm going to have a big baby. This is, of course, all David's fault ;) According to the chart she showed us, the baby's head is also on the bigger end of the scale.

So the doctor asked us if we wanted to know what it is and we both said yes, and she pointed out the baby's "outdoor plumbing system" and I said "I knew it!" We were both hoping for a girl first but, of course, neither of us are disappointed at all. In fact it seems like every time I look at the ultrasound pictures I get even more excited. Seriously... even though he looks like an alien, and probably will for the first month or two after he's born, I just think he's so cute. We got to look at his face for a minute during the ultrasound and he was making little sucking motions with his mouth. David is so excited to! He immediately started mentioning the things he's going to do with his boy... play with Lego's, go fishing, etc. I can't wait to see our little man in person and get to know his personality. It's so amazing to think that I helped make him and he's growing inside me. He's my son... that's so weird and so exciting at the same time!
